In July of 2017 a handful of friends started an informal Sunday “House Worship” in the home of Pastor Joe and Suhee Chu. This group grew to five families and one college student. Together we started to pray and dream about officially planting a new church.
Vision: Driven by Love to spread the Truth.
Our Vision is to be a church that is driven by the Great Commandment to live out the Great Commission.
The Great Commandment
Matthew 22:37-40: Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
Our motivation, drive, and reason for everything we do is Love. We are compelled by our passionate love for God, and our compassionate love for people.
The Great Commission
Matthew 28:18-20: Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Jesus made his purpose for us very clear. Christians have often called it his Mandate or Great Commission. In summary, our purpose is Evangelism and Discipleship. We are to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that people will receive salvation. And we are to teach Christians to grow into fully devoted disciples or followers of Jesus Christ.
Our founding members are mostly second generation Korean Americans. We hope to be a leading church for the second generation, and future generations of Korean Americans. We also hope to grow in diversity as we warmly welcome people of all cultures and ethnicities. We want to build up our members to live up to their God-given potential and calling. As we live out our Vision, we hope to make a great impact in our community locally here in New Jersey, and globally to the ends of the Earth.
Our Doctrine is Christian, Protestant, Reformed, Presbyterian.
The Bible is our primary Authority.
We recognize the Westminster Confession of Faith which helps us to clearly understand the Bible.
The Westminster Confession of Faith was written in the 1640's for the purpose of clarifying concisely what the Bible teaches about the Bible, God, mankind, Jesus Christ and redemption, the church, and other important biblical subjects. The WCF is very useful for learning the overall themes of the Bible, bringing the many teachings and events together so we can understand the essence and meaning for our lives today.
